Don't think they're kidding when they say the Grand Bazaar in Istanbul is one of the largest in the world. It is comprised of more than 58 streets and 6,000 shops and has between 250,000 and 400,000 visitors each day! Here, you will find many things- from carpets and spices to jewelry and pottery, but if you're thinking that it must be hard to find what you're looking for amidst 5,999 other shops- it is... but they do make it easier for you by grouping similar products in certain areas. However, it is an undeniable truth that the best thing you take home from there is the thing you least expected to find – or possibly didn't even know it existed.

The best entrances to the Grand Bazaar are through the Beyazit Gate (across from the Beyazit stop on the tram along Divanyolu) and the Nuruosmaniye Gate (from the Çemberlitas tram stop on Divanyolu; follow Vezirhani Cad to the arched entrance to the mosque grounds, which lead to the bazaar)
