Listed under Shopping in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Beautifully, historic 20th century buildings line this mile-long pedestrianized street, which is most popular for its gem, leather and fur stores. Many of the vendors target tourists with street acts and garish signs calling for your attention, but they also offer almost anything you might need- clothing, sporting goods, electronics, and eclectic gifts on Calle Florida.
Since the fall of the peso in the early 21st century, shopping in Buenos Aires has become a really good deal for American and international shoppers. The crisis has also forced the country to halt the importation of many of the designer products they were formerly getting, but in return, has led local designers to create their own domestic lines, so fabulous trends abound that can not be found anywhere else in the world.
If you keep walking north down the road, you will see Galerias Pacifico at the intersection of Avenida Cordoba, which is a large, elegant mall that offers slightly more upscale shops, such as children's clothing at Mimo & Co, shoes at Sibyl Vane, Prune- a leather store, and Ralph Lauren and Christian Dior. Be sure to glance up at the ceiling, the main focal point of which is the gorgeous vaulted atrium.
