Little winding streets and an eclectic mix of old and new architecture attract people from around the world to Barri Gothic. There are bars, restaurants and shopping everywhere- making this the perfect opportunity for an afternoon stroll during your holiday in Barcelona. The best shopping in the area can be found on Calle Portal de L´Angel and Calle Avinyo.

Calle Avinyo is one of the most interesting streets in all of Spain. Here you can find a collection of things- such as trinkets, women's fashions and interior design. The store Z sells funky things for your house, both kitsch and comical. You can find street fashion at Soda and Angel Gimeno has trendy men's clothing. Also check out Zsu Zsa, an original Argentine line designed by two sisters and their mother.

On Calle Portal de L´Angel, you will find little knick-knacks, antiques, and accessories. It is a large pedestrian street in the heart of the old town area. Here is also where El Corte Ingles is located- a very large department store which offers literally anything you'd need, from brands like Zara and Benetton to a head of lettuce. Designers on Calle Portal de L'Angel include Calvin Klein, Armani, Versace, and Gucci. A hip Spanish store is Berksha where you can shop for pretty cheap, but cool and trendy women's fashion.

Barri Gothic is also the place for markets, depending on the day of the week. There's a crafts market (Placa de Sant Josep Oriol) on Thursday and Friday, an antiques market (Placa Nova) on Thursday, and a coin and stamp collectors' market (Placa Reial) on Sunday morning.
