Jinli Street was once one of the busiest commercial streets in south-west China. Famous for its own gorgeous style of brocade, it is now a reconstructed Qing-Dynasty-style tourist attraction full of curio shops and snack places.

The above should be enough to help you decide if Jinli Street is for you. Don't go there to see the architecture; it is all less than ten years old. Don't go there to get a bargain; you won't get one. Jinli Street is fun if you want to see domestic tourists enjoying themselves - to capture those moments on camera, for your travel diary or just for your own pleasure - but if these things do not matter to you then go elsewhere.
