You're probably wondering why, if you're vacationing on a budget, you'd ever want to go to Galeries Lafayette, a giant department store filled with so much merchandise that even Bill Gates could go broke. Well the bad news is yes, you might be tempted to buy some posh items but the good news is you don't have to be a fanatic shopper or spend any money at all to enjoy yourself here. It has a spectacular dome, which is something worth seeing in itself, and you will continuously be amazed at the architecture throughout. There is also a free terrace on the top of the building which offers panoramic views of the Parisian city and might be a good alternative to paying to visit the top of the Arch de Triumph or the Eiffel Tower.
