The Gwithian dunes are hiding something. Gazing out over three miles of Cornish beach which form a part of St. Ives, these coastal peaks are usually linked with a little movement known as Modernism, where writers and artists sought a break from the past; Virginia Woolfe used the nearby Godrevy Lighthouse as model for her famous novel. If a rejection of historicism meant that traditional forms were a step in the wrong direction you would not expect three rather nice retro 60s style beach chalets to be nestled in the coves of a region well known for its determination to forget. Shame on you, Gwithian Dunes.

Scolding over, they are a tribute to the traditional seaside times of old; Cath Kidston would be very proud, as would Boden. Each sky-blue chalet sleeps up to six people and is fitted with all the comfortable amenities. If you are a larger party, more than one chalet can be booked. Just a few minutes walk from the bracing rock pools and secluded pockets of sand caves, step out onto the shore and splash in the face of change.
