One of my all time favourite days sailing I spent on Sydney Harbour. You can go out of the heads and up the coastline and it’s nice, if you want to do a proper trip but the harbour itself was just a great day in itself. There’s lots of traffic, from the ferries to big cruise ships to tourist catamarans to trailer sailors to speedboats so you have to watch yourself, but it’s just plain fun. There are a couple of islands with little docks and docks all around when you want to stop off for some fresh seafood for lunch like we did in Doyles, Watson’s Bay where we had Balmain Bugs (a local specialty, Balmain is one of the ferry stops.). It’s choppy round the heads and probably not a good idea to attempt to cross if you’re only small, but there are little sandy bays to explore and it’s surprisingly clean and private considering there’s a city all around it. Round the zoo there are some especially nice, quiet coves and some stretchers have the millionaire’s houses to aspire to as well. You can go on up the river a way as well. One of my most enjoyable days sailing and a good place to have lessons or go out for the day if you’ve never been before.
