Q'enko is just north of Cusco on the top of Socorro Hill, and one of the least visited of the Incan sites around town – probably because the site is considered interesting but not spectacular on the same scale of some of the other local sites – it's competing with Sacsayhuamán and Machu Picchu remember – and its walls and buildings have been more damaged. One of the main features of the site is the 'Great Rock' which is a 100m long stone which has been decorated with carvings of animals, and has had several sets of stairs cut into it which visitors are allowed to climb on. Under the 'Great Rock' is an underground gallery off which tunnels shoot, all cut into the rock. Q'enko is part of the stories about huge tunnels running under the whole Incan Empire, but it was more likely some kind of sacred Incan site to do with death and funeral rites.

Other points of interest can be spotted around the site's amphitheatre or main plaza.
