Taking drivers past World Heritage sites at Gros Morne National Park and the Norse archaeological site at L’Anse aux Meadows, this is a themed route, with plenty of places along the way to learn more about the Vikings and their excursions onto the Newfoundland coastline as well as other ancient inhabitants of this country. As well as the Viking exhibitions and archaeological sites the reason to take this journey is the view. Icebergs, glaciers, graceful bays, rocky cliffs and ancient forests hide tiny fishing villages. There are points along the route to whale watch, points to wander through forests housing some of the world’s rarest plants and animals and places to stop and fish for salmon.
