Thanks to the old British Empire, the Thames River has become one of the busiest in the world. Accordingly, some of London’s finest architecture has grown on its banks. From Battersea Bridge to Tower Bridge, especially at sunset or at night, a trip along the Embankment is a trip through London’s architectural history (first prize to Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament), parks and urban, riverside beauty. At night, the clever use of lighting brings new form and structure to the buildings that is impossible during the day. There are some great viewing posts as well: the London Eye, the Millenium and Waterloo Bridges.
