Known as the ‘Highway to Heaven’, Hana Highway offers breathtaking scenery on this 50something mile trip from Pa’ia to Hana on the island of Maui. The route is so stunning that a slow drive is preferable, in order to fully appreciate the waterfalls, mile upon mile of bamboo and eucalyptus groves all tickling the Hana Highway, while the Pacific Ocean hovers on the other side with phenomenal panoramic views from just about every single square inch. There are little fruit and juice stalls to stop at along the way, with treats such as the Honua Spa awaiting you in Hana. Aloha!

Hana Highway
The Hana Highway creeps round the east coast of Hawaii in a clockwise direction, cut into the fingers of rainforest that probe the pacific. The views of oncoming coves and juts of jungle are breathtaking, as is the driving experience. Many of the bridges you cross date back to the early 20th century and consequently were not built to accommodate two lanes of motorised traffic. 30 miles at 15 miles an hour round blind bends on the edge of a cliff is an exhausting experience for the driver, but a safari through paradise for any passengers.
