This is a 4x4 Australian favourite, due to the abundance of gorgeous gorges, rivers, spectacular ranges and stunning waterfalls. Only open in the dry season from April to November, and originally built for cattle transportation, this road is actually on private property, which means it needs to be respected and kept clean. While the eastern end has some special views while driving, the emphasis naturally resides with the driving – a high clearance vehicle in its best condition is a must. The track is hard and unforgiving – almost all the road is formed natural earth road, which is exactly what makes this ride so very enjoyable. Beware of cattle and wildlife.
