An extraordinary drive indeed, the ‘Highway That Goes To The Sea’ offers barely believable beauty at sunrise and sundown. The highway is 113 miles long and boasts 43 bridges, including Marathon’s Seven Mile Bridge, and can be covered in about 4 hours. The turquoise and dark blue shimmering watery scenery here is so elegant, tropical marine life bubbling around the reefs, with the Atlantic on one side and the Gulf of Mexico and Florida Bay on the other. Originally Henry Flagler’s Florida East Coast Railway, it was built after the railway was destroyed by a hurricane in 1935.
