Yenisey River

The Yenisei’s source is in Mongolia and the river then travels north through deserts of tundra to join the Kara Sea. Large hydroelectric dams are located along the river which control the flow and provide electricity to several of Russia’s major industrial centres.

Much of the river freezes over for part of the year.
