The 56 km long Niagara River is most famous for its three vast horseshoe shaped falls which are one of those to-see-before-you-die sights. The falls divide the US and Canada, two of the falls are in the US and the third in Canada. Visitors can get a more dramatic view of the falls on the bridge that crosses them.

As well as the feature falls the Niagara river has several challenging sets of rapids and other white water challenges so it’s very popular with rafters. The Niagara is also good for fishing for trout, bass and salmon.

The Niagara has historical significance as a route to liberation for African American slaves who were free men in Canada.

Its main route takes it from Lake Erie to Lake Ontario.
