Listed under River Trips in South West, France.
The Dordogne River meanders through some of the most beautiful countryside in France. Along the Dordogne there are many historical churches, castles and craggy villages dating back to the Crusades. The Chateau Fenelon and the Lascaux Caves are two highlights in this region - as are the many river based activities, from kayaking to rafting. There are some superb and tranquid campsites along its banks. Food-wise the region is known for its stuffed goose livers, all types of canards, and sweet Montbazillac wines - as well as thousands of British, Dutch and Germans who have settled here, giving it the name of Dordogne-shire.
