The Square, a two Michelin-starred establishment headed by chef/owner Philip Howard, is wittily said to have “four right angles: great food, wines, service, and location” (toptable.co.uk). In London’s posh Mayfair, The Square has received a multitude of accolades since opening in 1991. The food is described as “French-inspired haute cuisine using impeccable ingredients” (toptable.co.uk). Dishes are “immaculately presented, perfectly portioned, timed & seasoned” (squaremeal.co.uk). All the dishes on the menu are equally enticing making it hard to choose from sumptuous creations like “Lasagne of Cornish Crab with a Cappuccino of Shellfish and Basil” (squarerestaurant.org) or a “Terrine of Salt Cured and Pimms Marinated Foie Gras with Apricot Chutney and a Camomile, Honey and Sauternes Jelly” (squarerestaurant.org). With every good meal needing a fine wine to keep it company, the comprehensive wine list is “right up there with the best in Europe” (squaremeal.co.uk).
