“The point of The Fat Duck is to excite your senses as much as your stomach” (telegraph.co.uk). The small village restaurant has been around for a while (since 1985) and has become something of a megastar in the food world, having being named the best restaurant in the world. Dishes such as “bacon and egg icecream” and “sardine-on-toast sorbet” are examples of chef Heston Blumenthals eccentric masterpieces, which are part of his aim to “reconnect taste with the other senses, and to link it to expectation, emotion and memory”(independent.co.uk). The restaurant is in a small cottage, with low ceilings and exposed beams- “the most unlikely room ever to glean three Michelin stars”(times online.co.uk).

The Fat Duck is not in the Cotswolds as you have it listed here! It is in Bray, Berkshire. Good luck with the amazingly huge job of reviewing everything, glad to help. I am going to the Fat Duck in December coincidentally, about a two hour drive from here in the Cotswolds. Maybe I'll do a review....

Thanks Maria- we will alter it. And yes please, send us a review - though we are really not focussed on restaurants, we want to list the very top ones that are worth trips in themselves (i.e. a two hour drive!)
