A 19th century farm building houses this three Michelin-starred establishment, called the area’s “bastion of elegance” (foodeu.com). Run since 1992 by Peter and Lieve Goossens, the restaurant has fast become one of the best in Belgium, recently being voted in at 28th place on the World’s Best 50 restaurant list. The French cuisine is as elegant as the dining room, which exudes an “atmosphere of ultimate tranquillity and calm from the moment that you cross the threshold” (foodeu.com) with “gentle, modern décor” (foodeu.com). Peter describes every meal in the restaurant as a “production” (hofvancleve.com) meaning that every element runs like a well-oiled machine. Dishes on the menu are “exciting yet pure” (theworlds50best.com) with seasonal and interesting ingredients. Delights to choose from include river eel, lamb from the Pyrenees, suckling veal and Danish cod.
