Well regarded as one of the best lodges in the Selous, Sand Rivers is a smart, permanent camp stylishly designed in chunky dark wood and stone flagstones. With views over a wide and dramatic stretch of the Rufiji River that runs through the North of the Game Reserve this camp has stunning charm.

The eight spacious accommodation bandas at Sand River Selous are built on stilts with a shaggy overhanging thatch, each with one side open to the river, giving clear views of the water and sandbanks from a lavishly net-covered bed.

The lodge has a congenial old-English colonial atmosphere and a penchant for surprise G&Ts on a scenic hilltop to complete a long walk through the bush, and a taste for safari chic. They are serious about safaris, about tea in the afternoon and candlelit dinners, and provide a very high standard of food, service and guiding.
