The Rogue River is the perfect river for those on their first overnight rafting trip and families. It's known for it's abundant wildlife, friendly rapids, warm water, and great camps. This is a trip through a dense forest with interesting geology all the way down. The Rogue is most popular in the summer months when the weather is predictable: no rain and high temperatures! The rapids on the Rogue River are mostly Class II and III with big recovery pools in between, perfect for inflatable kayaks. The big rapids are Mule Creek Canyon and Blossom Bar and usually come on the third day. Mule Creek Canyon is a nearly mile long rapid with vertical rock walls on both sides. Blossom Bar is jumble of rocks that requires careful maneuvering. The Rogue is most famous for it's spectacular wildlife. My favorite morning on the Rogue was waking up to a river otter swimming around my boat. I looked up and saw several Osprey overhead looking for fish. As I was making breakfast, I saw a bear across the river and a large Bald Eagle flying through the canyon. To learn more about the Rogue River, visit Rogue River Information or ECHO River Trips.
