West Virginia has been a world-renown rafting destination for years. With beautiful East Coast green landscapes and mountains, the Gauley River and New River give you great whitewater rafting in the hills of West Virginia. Known as the thrilling “Gauley Season” to rafters, the Gauley River is only run during certain times of the year, but provides some of the best whitewater rapids in the nation. The New River gives you a perfect mix of great scenery and moderate whitewater. The Gauley River only runs during the fall months, September-October. Whitewater on the Gauley is more intense than the New River. The New River runs the normal rafting season during the summer months.
