Hildene, Vermont is the town in which the Lincoln family home is located. Although Lincoln never actually lived here, his son did with his wife, Robert Todd Lincoln and Mary Harlan Lincoln. The building was completed in 1905 and remained in the Lincoln family until 1975. When the last decedent Mary Lincoln Beckwith died it was bought by the Friends of Hildene.
The house was then restored as well as the outbuildings and gardens. The house is now furnished almost entirely with Lincoln Family Furniture and contains objects belonging to Robert Todd Lincoln as well as his parents, the President and his wife.
Hildene is open daily from 9:30am-4:30pm and tours begin at the Welcome Center. It is closed only on Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas and Easter.
