Revolutionary, socialist and pop culture icon. After being executed and buried in Bolivia (beside an airfield), his remains were returned to Cuba in 1997 and interred in a ceremony attended by Castro (in whose government Guevara served as Minister for Industry.). His shrine has now become a place of pilgrimage.
