Sachs Bridge was built in 1854 across Marsh Creek in Adams County, Pennsylvania. It was around a hundred feet long and made of wood, and has been rebuilt twice: once in 1996 after a violent storm, and once after the 1863 Battle of Gettysburg, when it was burned down by Confederate soldiers on their departure from the area.

Before it met its fiery end, however, the stout, covered bridge was used as a makeshift war hospital during the three-day battle, during which over 50,000 men lost their lives.

Light anomalies, strange smells and poltergeist activity have been associated with the bridge, and momentary re-enactments of the battle itself are believed to take place there.

Legend states that three Confederate soldiers were revealed as spies when the battle had ended, and they were tried then and there, and hanged from the beams that formed the roof of one end of the bridge. Their spirits are said to linger there still.
