Haunting at the Station Hotel, Dudley

Listed under Paranormal in Birmingham, United Kingdom.

Featured on television by ‘Most Haunted’ the Station Hotel holds many dark secrets, particularly in the cellars. The story tells of a hotel manager who enticed a servant girl into the cellar. Spurning his advances and threatening to tell his wife, the girl was murdered by him.

When ‘Most Haunted’s’ resident psychic Derek Acorah went to the hotel, he reported the name of a male spirit George Williams/Williamson who was having an affair with a female by the name of Elizabeth Hitchen. George Williams allegedly murdered Elizabeth by strangling and stabbing her. Acorah then revealed that Williams disposed of Elizabeth’s body by means of a chute within the hotel, which would have been used, at the time, for the delivery of bottles and barrels. Williams was then reported to have buried the body near the front of the hotel. According to Derek Acorah, Elizabeth Hitchen’s body remains there.

Originally built in 1910, the Station was demolished in 1936 in order to build a larger Hotel. This became particularly popular with theatrical artists playing the Hippodrome Theatre, once situated opposite. Laurel & Hardy, Bob Hope, Bing Crosby and George Formby are amongst the famous names that have stayed at the Hotel.

It is still a nice comfortable hotel with a good restaurant decorated to reflect its former glory. Ask to be seated at ‘Georges’ table.

I have held a number of public paranormal investigations at the Station Hotel and have never been disappointed with the level of paranormal activity. If you visit make sure it’s on a cellar tour night, we have had people touched, pushed and slapped - all in the cellar, and don’t forget your camera, ‘orbs’ a plenty at the Station Hotel, currently rated as my number one hotel for paranormal activity.

If you do decide to stay one night ask for a room on the haunted landing, 214 is the one in which the bed and chair moved when ‘Most Haunted’ filmed there. Nice!

The Barrel Run, Station Hotel, Dudley

I had an amazing experience down there. My leg gave way and i felt as though i had a 'club foot.' I then got the urge to sing 'Good King Wenceslas' and did. I then felt an overwhelming urge to strut up and down the run' and felt feelings of anger and arrogance. I could feel my lips curling into a sneer but could not stop myself. The feeling freaked me out. It was like watching myself from inside.

Sons 13th Birthday Present

My son is absolutely fasinated with all things paranormal and for his 13th birthday I wanted to give him a present he wouldn't forget. A night in Room 214 Aust14th/15th 2007. When we went into the room, to be honest it just looked like any other hotel room yet we had seen the footage from the Most Haunted Show, so we were both really excited about our nights stay there. We didn't have any equipment other than a video camera and a digital camera. It was just meant to be a fun evening for us both. To be honest I really didn't think anything would happen at all. We took lots of photos and admitedly many pictures had orbs in them, but I think many people are now skeptical as to what these really are. It felt silly getting excited about what could just be dust in the room, even though most of the orbs caught were around the chair and the dressing table in the room.

We sat up in bed asking out and filming again to catch moving orbs from around the chair. My son really wanted the chair to move but it didn't. Finally around 3am we decided to try and get some sleep. But 20 minutes later I was woken to some very strange noises coming from the dressing table area. I wish I could've got to the camera in time, but the noises were like something being pushed quite violently against something else in the room. Too be honest my heart was pounding so much by this point that I just pulled the covers over my face and willed the noise to stop. My son on the other hand was amazed and although he admits to being scared sat upright in bed and flashed the camera but sadly did not pick anything up. It was only a few days later when we were looking more closely at the photos that we see a reflection in the window of a mans face. Yes I know the sceptics out there will say it is street lights etc... but there is also a moving orb nr the frame. It looks pretty weird to me but just adds to a very memorable 13 th birthday for my son. If I can download the photo on here I will.
