Listed under Boat Based Whalewatching in Vancouver, Canada.
There aren't many cities that have coastlines clean enough and quiet enough to keep attracting whales, but Vancouver does – and visitors can take whale watching tours right out of town, many of which keep the emphasis on science and conservation to ensure that the whales keep coming back.
Pods of orcas like Willy are what most people come to see, they're the local variety, but the water here is also home to porpoises, sea lions, seals, and to figuratively cap it all off bald eagles. The waters off Victoria's coast are also on the migration path of humpback and grey pods.
Tours can be a few hours to a few days, on anything from zippy little zodiacs to cruise ships. On board most you'll find guides or naturalist types to talk you through what you see.
The Vancouver whale watching season runs between the 1st of April and the 31st of October.
