Ah, the lovely green rolling valleys and pastures, with their quaint stone walls separating sheep and cattle, of the Yorkshire Dales are a sight to behold. And most of it’s now protected under the banner of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The boundaries of the National Park straddle the rocky, peaky views of the Pennines, the flatter, historic areas of Cumbria and the river valleys and hills in between, all of it a haven for wildlife and people wanting to relax in a beautiful natural setting – here’s your space to exhale… Or else get on your bike, or horse, and get as far away from anyone else as you can, or walk hill and dale between the postcard perfect villages.
The Dales are home to some of the UK’s most diverse wildlife. It’s the varied grounds they include, the hay meadows sprouting coloured flowers, the rush pastures of the moorland fringes where the wading birds live and the heather heavy uplands, where so many plants can thrive, attracting so many different kinds of critters.
So the Yorkshire Dales are scenic and biologically diverse, and there's lots of space for picnics, deep breathing and running around.
