When most people think of prairies they probably don’t get very excited or have a huge urge to visit. Well, they would be surprised. A World Heritage site, Alberta’s Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump is a well-preserved locale where men would hunt bison by chasing them off cliffs almost 6000 years ago. If you’re also keen on hunting, a variety of hunting and fishing opportunities exist in the prairies of Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba. If not, Riding Mountain National Park is great for biking, hiking, and enjoying the dramatic natural beauty of the Canadian wilderness.
