The most obvious reason for Teide National Park being one of Europe's most visited national parks is the stunning volcanic landscape. And the most obvious bit of landscape is dormant volcano, Mount Teide: the largest mountain in Spain and the third largest volcano in the world.

Mount Teide isn't the only volcano here, the park's home to a second volcano: the Pico Viejio.

As well as walking on, and being able to look inside these volcanoes, visitors will also see cooled lava flows and impressively surreal rock formations.

On top of this, the park is home to the Teide Observatory, one of the most important astronomical observatories in the world.

You can choose to stay within Teide National Park itself when you visit or in a resort nearby. There is only one hotel within the park itself, one of the pros being that it's right on the the volcanoe's doorstep, but the cons are that there are fewer resort style activities available.

Jet2holidays, who submitted this travel recommendation, offer package deals to nearby Playa Real Resort, where you have the best of what a resort holiday can offer, including nearby shops, bars and restaurants, while still making the most of Tiede National Park.
