Here mountainous cloud forests crowd right up to the coast, covering elevations from sea level to 2,346 metres above and a range of ecosystems in between. Henri Pittier National Park is also a hotspot for biodiversity in the tropical Andes region and supports over 150 different species of tree and more than 140 mammal species and 580 kinds of bird, some of each endangered.
