This two-mile long stretch along the Connecticut shoreline is the perfect place to spend a day when visiting New England. No ostentation is to be seen at Hammonasset, where visitors can bike, camp, or fish to their heart’s content without the crowds of more popular beaches.
Meigs Point Nature Center also offers a variety of learning experiences through hands-on exhibits and educational programs.
Madison, Connecticut
The park is open from 8 am to sunset. When the campground is open (mid-May through October 31) the gates are monitored after sunset. Only campers, and fishermen with passes may enter the park. In the off-season, the gates are unlocked at 8:00 am and are locked at sunset.
