Discovering fossils from the Tertiary time period sounds like something only scientist are allowed to do. At this site you can uncover and help clean fossils from a time period now out of reach. The best preserved fossils from this time period in America and possibly the whole world are found at Fossil Butte National Monument.

The area that surrounds the site was thought to be under water during this time period and fossils of animals such as alligators, fish, horses, bats, turtles and insects are among those that have been discovered here. This is a great spot to go if you have children that enjoy discovery and adventure.
