This national park is situated where eastern Lithuania’s pretty hills roll down into lake pocked plains of dry pine forest. Land around the edges of the park has been felled and crop fields planted but the park’s ancient forests and reed filled swamps are designated to protect the culture as well as the nature of the region which includes the unique environment.
