The Arcadia National Park covers most of Mount Desert Island, but its boundaries also include some of the smaller islands along Maine's coast. Red and grey squirrels, white tailed deer, chipmunks, moose, beavers, porcupines, foxes, muskrats, bobcats, coyote and black bears live here, as do the more polite folks of Bar Harbor. It's not just the wildlife that's being preserved under this national park's umbrella, it's also the environmental mix of mountains, shoreline, lakes and dense woodlands.
