This park has its name because it's in American Samoa – not because America's in the habit of annexing bits of other countries for their own national parks – although it's technically annexed half of Samoa so...  Political studies aside it's a good thing that America has taken the initiative here and protected a variety of American Samoa's beautiful views.  The park is supposed to incorporate the 'finest examples of American Samoa's beaut', which includes both above and below the waterline, and even includes some villages.

As well as the villagers that live within the park, it's also got some more colourful characters: three types of flying fox darken the air of the rainforests, and you can't hear yourself think for that call of unusual birds in some areas.  There are also over 800 different marine animals.  In the migration season you might even see a humpback whale in these waters.

The park doesn't have a great deal in the way of facilities – this is not actually America, remember, but it does have a small Visitor centre at Ottoville.  Most people visit the section of the park near Pago Pago and Mount Alava because this is the bit of park you can reach by car.  It's a great place to hike, snorkel or scuba dive.
