The San Francisco Jazz Festival enjoys a long run – some year with up to nine fall (autumn) weeks of non-stop jazzing events, once you include the lead up and the come down – and never fails to attract a varied line up including some well known jazz names as well as locals and up-and-commers.  Festival goers get themselves exposed to every jazz sound invented from the classical to the avant garde.   A lot of the profits from the festival go to promoting jazz in the community, 'cause the whole shebang is run by SFJAZZ, a not for profit organisation dedicated to jazz and jazz education.
