The Isle of Wight holds more festivals per capita than anywhere else in the UK.  Which is saying something about the scenery, the space and the local's attitude to a bit of extra noise.  Bestival sticks out from the other festivals because of the way it looks – a lot of people come in fancy dress, and there are themed days.  It's also a politically and environmentally astute event, aiming to be carbon neutral.  The local WI are on board providing inexpensive refreshments, instead of over priced festival food.  A medium sized festival, we know because it keeps winning the 'Best Medium Sized Festival Award', Bestival is on the innovative edge of the general field, with a few quirky events, in 2008 they had an inflatable church equipped to marry people.

September 2009 equals Massive Attack, Kraftwerk, Elbow and MGMT – for starters.  And it has a cool name.
