The Fondation Maeght Aimé Marguerite and is a unique example of private foundation in Europe. Inaugurée le 28 juillet 1964 par André Malraux, alors Ministre des Affaires Culturelles, cet ensemble architectural a été entièrement conçu et financé par Aimé et Marguerite Maeght pour présenter l'art moderne et contemporain sous toutes ses formes. Inaugurated on July 28, 1964 by Andre Malraux, the then Minister of Cultural Affairs, this complex of buildings was completely designed and funded by Aimé and Marguerite Maeght to introduce modern and contemporary art in all its forms. Des peintres et des sculpteurs ont étroitement collaboré à cette réalisation avec l'architecte catalan Josep Lluis Sert en créant des œuvres, souvent monumentales, intégrées au bâtiment et aux jardins : cour Giacometti, labyrinthe Miró peuplé de sculptures et de céramiques, mosaïques murales de Chagall et de Tal-Coat, bassin et vitrail de Braque, fontaine de Bury… Painters and sculptors have collaborated closely in this achievement with the Catalan architect Josep Lluis Sert by creating works, often monumental, integrated to the building and the gardens: court Giacometti, Miro populated maze of sculptures and ceramics, mosaic murals of Chagall Tal-Coat and pool and stained glass Braque, fountain Bury
