The Cairo museum houses the world's most extensive collections of ancient Egyptian art and artefacts. The artefacts recovered from the tomb of Tutankhamun are on show here, a treasure trove of 1,700 pieces including his gold funerary mask. There is also a room devoted to New Kingdom royal mummies.
