One of the most important museums of classical antiquity in the world, the National Archeological Museum of Athens dates rom the late 19thC and houses treasures from Thessaly, the Cylcades, Santorini and Mycenae along with a peerless collection of sculpture and pottery. Perhaps one of the most famous exhibits is the Funerary gold death mask from Mycenae, also known as Schliemann's Agamemnon.
