The Accademia was founded in 1750 as the school for painting, sculpture and architecture for Venice and is first point of call for art-lovers in this city. The collection is devoted to Venetian artists up to the 18th century; masterpieces by Titian, Tintoretto and Veronese hang alongside works by lesser-known artists.
