One of Italy's finest collections of Renaissance art, the Brera was founded by Napoleon as a staging post for works of art looted from the rest of Italy, many of which eventually made their way to the Louvre. Includes fine paintings by, for example, Caravaggio, Carpaccio, Raphael (Marriage of the Virgin ) and Veronese (Supper in the House of Simon) and, from outside Italy, Rubens, El Greco and Rembrandt.
