Even the architecture of this building references the Modernist and Contemporary art it presents, not much of it was created before the 1940’s. Most of the works date from the prolific post WW2 period of Catalan and Spanish art.
Every floor of this Barcelona building is bathed in natural light streaming in from the walls of glazed windows and lighting up the rotating permanent collection of works by less well known artists. In front of the gallery skateboarders get up to all sorts of complicated tricks and video installations colour the square if you’re looking for something even more modern than Modern.
If you go on a Wednesday the entry price is halved.
