After visiting the Freer Gallery, take an underground journey to the Arthur M. Sackler Gallery which also contains Asian and Mediterranean art. At this gallery you will find ancient Chinese Jade and bronzes from all over the world. All of the artifacts found in this gallery have been collected over the past twenty years.

This building contains almost 10,000 art objects. The gallery was opened in 1987 with generous donations to the Smithsonian from Arthur M. Sackler. Sackler, a research physician and medical doctor, donated about 1,000 art objects from Asia as well as $4 million to have a building constructed for the pieces.

Some exhibits included in the building are Timur and the Princely Vision: Persian Art and Culture in the 15th Century, Yani: the Brush of Innocence, Korean Art of the 18th Century and A Basketmaker in Rural Japan.
