A grand neoclassical building housing one of the world's most important collections of European paintings from the 14th to the 18th centuries, including more works by Rubens than any other museum and such gems as Durer's monumental Self-Portrait (1500). Nearly 1,000 paintings are displayed at any time, with many thousands more in storage.
