Both long and wide, in amongst the mountains of Australia’s Great Dividing Range all you can see is more rolling mountains. Stretching along the eastern coastline from the Grampians in Victoria, through New South Wales’s Blue Mountain and into North Queensland, the range covers 3500kms or gorges, plateaus, escarpments and forests of granite tors. Not a single range but a ridge of hundreds of peaks, gorges and forests of interlocking ranges, the Great Diving Range was a major obstacle for Australia’s early settlers, keeping settlements on the coast.
