Listed under Mountains in Cape Town, South Africa.
Table Mountain is a famous landmark in Cape Town, overlooking the town’s harbour at Table Bay. Its 3km wide ‘table-top’ plateau gives it the iconic silhouette that features on Cape Town’s city flag, and the clouds which settle around the mountain can create the picturesque appearance of a ‘table-cloth’. The mountain is part of the Cape Floral Region – a World Heritage Site – and its natural beauty can be explored on foot via a series of hiking trails to the plateau. There’s a cable car up to the summit, with rotating cars to give passengers a 360° panoramic view of the city. Rock climbing, absailing, and caving also happen in, around, on and under Table Mountain.
