Listed under Mountains in DR Congo.
The ‘Mountains of the Moon’ are located on the border between Uganda and Congo. This 3rd highest mountain of Africa is 5109m/16,763ft high.
The hike is a bit tougher than Kilimanjaro, due to rocky paths and giant mud fields, but the scenery is magnificent. Step into the footsteps of the Duke of Abruzzi and Stanley and Livingstone in this wild adventure. The hike is suitable for experienced hikers, the actual climb over a glacier to the summit requires ropes and crampons and is for experienced climbers only. June-August and December-February are recommended periods, the other months might be too wet to cross the huge bogs! Porters and guides will help you on.
