The Pocono Mountains are located a short distance from Washington DC. This beautiful mountain range is home to such ski parks as Camelback Ski Area, Jack Frost Mountain and Big Boulder and Shawnee Mountain Ski Area.
This mountain area ranges from New York to Pennsylvania and into Wasington DC. The Poconos are part of the Allegheny Plateau and are close to the Catskills. The Delaware River is another close by landmark that attributes to some of the outdoor fun that is available here.
Vacationers can look forward to camping, hiking, skiing, racing and even gambling. The area is currently seeing a growth in population due to seasonal visitors who turn their residences into permanent homes, most of them from the New York and New Jersey area.
